Claude Code not working? Try this
- Check the status above. If it shows an outage, the problem is on Anthropic's side and you can only wait or switch tools.
- Reload the page or restart the app, then sign out and sign back in.
- Try a private browser window. If it works there, a browser extension or old cookies are the cause.
- Turn off your VPN or proxy. Some networks are blocked or rate limited.
- Check whether you've hit your plan's usage limit. That looks like an outage but only affects your account.

Most "Claude Code is down" moments that don't show up on the status page are local: an expired login, a browser extension or VPN blocking requests, a stale app version, or a usage limit on your plan. Sign out and back in, try a private window or the other app, and turn off your VPN.
